Job description

Stromsburg Baptist Church is looking for an Associate Pastor to partner with our Lead Pastor and church leadership in ministering to a growing small-town church. The position will implement, coordinate, and actively participate in Christian ministries such as youth programs, Sunday school curriculum, and adult small group coordination. The Associate Pastor will work under the guidance and mentorship of the current Lead Pastor, with the intent of eventually transitioning to the role of Lead Pastor.

Stromsburg Baptist Church was established in 1873 and has a 150-year history of serving God and

spreading the gospel to our community and the world. Our church is friendly and loving, with a heart to glorify God by leading people to a mature and committed relationship with Jesus Christ. We believe it is the essential mission of our church to help people see the hope that they have in Jesus Christ and to equip them to live as faithful and passionate disciples for him in this world, and we are seeking a godly man who feels called to help us fulfill this mission as a full-time member of our team.

SBC is a Converge (formerly General Conference Baptist) church with an average attendance of 110 to 130 for Sunday worship and 80 for Sunday school, nearly double from two years ago. God has blessed us with committed leadership, and we have a growing, young, married attendance with a booming nursery. Our community of 1200 has a rich Swedish heritage, a neighborly feel, and an excellent school system.

In this position: 

You will join us and help lead us as we pursue deeper relationships with God and with the people God brings into our lives. You and the Lead Pastor will work closely together, dividing responsibilities in many areas of the church. You will have an emphasis on youth and family programs, but both pastors will be involved in teaching and pastoring all generations.

In Discipleship You Will: 

Work with the Lead Pastor and the Christian Education (CE) committee to coordinate, promote, and further develop a quality Christian Education program.

Lead the CE committee in planning for adult and youth Sunday School, including scheduling, purchasing or developing curriculum, and evaluating programming.

Oversee the High School or Middle School Youth group. Leadership of these groups will be assigned according to gifts.

Connect with families to assist parents in equipping the next generation as disciples.

Participate in leading and growing our small group ministry.

In Outreach and Missions, You Will: 

Work with the Lead Pastor to facilitate church engagement in the Stromsburg area through church supported activities and programs.

Coordinate with the Missions Committee to plan for and lead intergenerational mission opportunities.

In Worship You Will: 

Participate in weekly worship leadership. Preach approximately 6-12 times per year, as determined by skill and desire.

Position Details:

Training: Formal bible training or three years of experience in similar ministry.

Flexible Daily hours Tuesday through Friday

Benefits include:

Salary $40,000.00 to $45,000 per year plus a recently remodeled parsonage.
