In 2015, I felt the tug of God on my heart. It was to be a major change in our lives as our Lord repurposed us from a secular career as a building research scientist/engineer/inventor who liked to think outside the box. I had taken the Perspectives course and my view of God radically changed, from all about me to it is all about Him and His glory. I saw that I was created to be His image bearer and to live as a citizen of the Kingdom of God. (Now that was really thinking outside the world's box!)
I could not get enough of Perspectives, anytime a class was anywhere with an hour or so, I had to go to hear of this God I knew so little of. Like most things, when you continually show up you asked to help. That help resulted in my becoming the Regional Director of Perspectives for a region known as Florida-Plus (Florida-Puerto Rico-US Virgin Islands). Here I promote and shepherd the Perspectives classes.
Working with the Perspectives classes, I would get asked, "how can I become a missionary?" What?, I have no idea, I was an engineer. However, I was curious and I needed to know the answer. Our church is part of the Converge family of churches, so probably a good place to start. I attended the Missionary Assessment class (kinda like a dating time - do you want us and do we want you). I was asked, "what people group or what country do you want to serve?". My response, Perspectives. I desire to see the American church awakened from its slumber and see the wonderful invitation that God has given to join Him in what He is doing.
Enter the US Engagement Team - here is serve on the 210 Focus teamlet were we walk alongside churches as they develop a focus on reaching a least reach people group. And I also have the privilege of sharing the Perspectives story and promoting it through our church network.
What a amazing God...He is causing me to Finish Well and proclaim His glory by mobilizing His people in doing good works.
And what is so great is that when you join me on one of my teams or prayerful or financially, God counts that to your good works! Thank you for joining with me.
Some scriptures that have guided me on the journey: Gen 1:26-28; Heb 12:1-2; Rom 12:1-2; Gen 12:1-2 and Hab 2:14
