Converge commissions 6 missionary appointees at September Launch

Converge International Ministries is asking God for a gospel movement among every least-reached people group ― in our generation. And God is answering.

During the Launch global worker orientation and training September 15-17 in Orlando, Florida, there was a dual level of diversity both ethnically and in ministry. The six missionary appointees commissioned during Launch are European, Asian and African heritage workers. They will be reaching the least-reached, teaching local believers in Ivory Coast, empowering the church in Asia for gospel movements and engaging Converge churches in the U.S. toward global gospel impact. The three-day event helped prepare and empower these global workers to build their ministry partnership teams.

Meet our new appointees:

  • Barb Ehlers, Willow Creek Community Church, South Barrington, Illinois; U.S. Engagement Team, US-based
  • Sublime & Rachel Mabiala, First Baptist Church of Glenarden, Upper Marlboro, Maryland; Ivory Coast, West Africa
  • B-K, Heartland Church (Converge MidAmerica District), Indianapolis, Indiana, Spice Island Initiative
  • Phu Pham, Converge Viet Church of Fairfax (Converge MidAtlantic), Fairfax, Virginia; Asia Regional Impact Team, US-based

New global workers

It takes many people to launch a global worker into the mission field: family, churches, partners and Converge. This orientation and training is the first step as appointees move toward deployment. We would also like to celebrate those who have successfully walked through the Ministry Partnership Development (MPD) process and recently deployed to their fields of service.

  • Andrew and Miranda Brother with their daughter Aroura deployed to Poland on July 25, 2021. After language school, Andrew and Miranda will be part of the 15:5 West Initiative helping with church planting in the city of Poznan by first teaching the Polish people what a true disciple looks like. Currently, most of the Polish people have not seen a third-generation Christian.
  • Peter and Heather Hanson deployed on September 14, 2021. The Hansons will be based in Poznań, Poland, where they will be involved with the 15:5 West Initiative, which seeks to start a gospel movement in Poland, Czech Republic, and Slovakia. They will assist Evangelical Poland, a coalition of church leaders working together for resourcing, training, and outreach, through media training and the creation of videos. They will also serve the local church and engage their friends and neighbors in Gospel-focused conversation.
  • Jon and Barb Terrill deployed on August 18, 2021. They will be serving local church movements in the U.K. for revitalization and outreach in partnership with The Alliance of Transatlantic Theological Training.
  • Kaytlyn Douglass deployed in August 2021. She will be serving local church movements in the U.K. for revitalization and outreach in partnership with The Alliance of Transatlantic Theological Training.
  • Alisha O’Daniel deployed in August 2021. She will be serving local church movements in the U.K. for revitalization and outreach in partnership with The Alliance of Transatlantic Theological Training.
