A gospel outreach at a rural school in northern Thailand has advanced God’s desires for the overwhelmingly Buddhist country despite people strongly resisting Christ’s grace and truth there.

A team of 10 planned the village school's first outreach in eight years on December 23. A Thai church, Converge global workers, school staff, and community members collaborated.

As a result, 85 children saw God's love on full display as they heard a clear gospel presentation during the outreach.

There is no worshiping community of Christians in the entire sub-district of Thailand where the school serves children. Nationwide, more than 90% of Thai people are Buddhist, making the 70 million people one of the world’s least-reached groups.

Converge’s Thailand Initiative team is asking God for a gospel movement that transforms lives, changes the communities and multiplies churches. To accomplish that, the team prioritizes developing transformational leaders who can start and multiply churches that create disciples.

December’s outreach was the first since 2016 in this sub-district, and God has been working here since the ministry happened. One example: A Christian family wanting to start a home fellowship has recently moved into that village.

In addition, a man professed faith in Jesus after 10 years of building relationships. His family now wants to study the Bible with believers in the village.

The Converge team remains confident about their partnership with local believers and leaders as God keeps answering prayers. What’s happened since the outreach shows God has sparked significant progress among people who desperately need a gospel movement in this generation.
