A Prayer Request Answered 8 Years Later

Now, I know what you are probably thinking, "Tim has been praying for a son for 8 years." Well, truth be told, that is 1000% wrong. It is correct that I had prayed that in the past. But, I ended that prayer request a long time ago after experiencing the pure joy of a daughter X2.

No, I am referring to Bethany's faithful, persistent prayer request for 8 years to have a fully natural birth. The good Lord in His providence gave us an emergency C-section with Carmichael in Dasmariñas City & then a planned C-section in Tacloban City due to pandemic complications. Each time Bethany spent large amounts of time planning, researching, and lost of praying. In each instance, she obediently submitted to the Lord in faith even when he answered differently.

The prayer of a righteous person has great power as it is working (James 5:16).

This third time would be different. Bethany prayed faithfully, researched & chose our birth team ~ a group of midwives from Reading Hospital & a doula. The team had the oversight of a world-class OBGYN surgeon who carefully analyzed Bethany's history & recommended the safest route, a natural birth. This time the Lord heard her prayer & gave her the desire of her heart.

For this child I prayed, and the Lord has granted me my petition that I made to him (1 Samuel 1:27–2:10)

Although the Lord gives to each of us a different burden to carry, his ways are always perfect. The birth was a challenge right up until the very end. But God had already brought the right team together including last minute supportive nurses. He doesn't have to answer us. But he graciously does & did.

The Lord smiled at Bethany on September 7th at 8:34AM answering her 8 year prayer while Bethany's playlist, the Goodness of God, played in the background.

Now we have 9 LB 21 IN Timmy.

We will never forget that moment when our sorrow & struggle turned to pure joy!
