Can we share with you how God is working in Togo? During this past month, the first church that our teammates planted in Aného, New Life Church, celebrated its 10 year anniversary. Our team in Togo shared with us that Pastor Jonas planned a meal to proceed the service with a projected attendance of 350. Our team was amazed by the actual number of people who showed up! They ended up estimating that about 450 people attended the service and meal afterwards. God is so good! Several chiefs and pastors from the surrounding area were a part of those that attended. This is encouraging to our team and the national pastor as it shows that the church has respect and a voice in Aného.
Wow, what a month for both our Togolese family and for us! Kristen and I spent the past month at CIT (Center for Intercultural Training) in the mountains of North Carolina. The weekdays were spent with like-minded people headed to different parts of the world. Some people are headed to parts of Europe while others are headed to places that Christians are not welcome. In the short four weeks there was a lot of laughter and group activities, but most importantly a lot of learning. We started every day with a time of worship and prayer and then transitioned to the topic for the day. All of our facilitators were amazing seasoned missionaries ranging from 5 to 15 years on the mission field. Some of our favorite topics were cross-cultural communication and contextualization. All 25 topics that we covered in the 4 weeks helped us identify blind spots to our behaviors and perspectives, as well as give us a new set of eyes when looking at other cultures. All-in-all the past 4 weeks have been a wonderful experience and have given new light to the glory of God and how He will be glorified through all cultures.
"After this I looked, and there before me was a great multitude that no one could count, from every nation, tribe, people and language, standing before the throne and before the Lamb. They were wearing white robes and were holding palm branches in their hands. And they cried out in a loud voice, 'Salvation belongs to our God, who sits on the throne, and to the Lamb'" Revelation 7:9-10.
We moved back to Mt. Pleasant, NC this past weekend and are sitting at about 68% for our monthly support. As we get back into the swing of partnership development we are praying that God will provide us with meetings and connections to share about what He is doing in Togo! The next couple of months are still unclear with regards to our move to Togo; we need to be 100% funded before we can move and we have much to do in the meantime. Thankfully, we know we are in God's hands and He will get us there at the perfect time.
We'd love to know how we can pray for you.
