“Jesus went through all the towns and villages, teaching in their synagogues, preaching the good news of the kingdom and healing every disease and sickness. When he saw the crowds, he had compassion on them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd. Then he said to his disciples, “The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field.”

Matthew 9:35-38

This is Converge International Ministries vision: We are asking God for a gospel movement among every least-reached people group–in our generation. We recognize this is a big ask, but we also recognize that we have a big God! Currently, we have approximately 175 workers deployed and about 60 more who are on the pipeline. Why are we so committed to sending out global workers? Because the harvest is plentiful.

When it comes time for a harvest, all other work is put on hold, because farmers recognize the importance of reaping a crop while it’s still ripe. There is only a specific season for fruits and vegetables where they can be collected and be good enough to go and sell or eat. The same is true for the harvest that’s spoken of in the Bible.

As Matthew 9:37-38 says from our reading, the time of the harvest is now. During this time, place, and age, people’s hearts are positioned in such a way that hearing a presentation of the gospel can change the trajectory of their lives forever! There are people who are hungry to hear about Jesus’ sacrifice on the cross. But who will tell them?

When it comes to our own lives, how focused are we on bringing in the harvest? How focused are our churches? Are we willing to put everything else on the back burner for the sake of the gospel? Are we willing to put ourselves in uncomfortable positions, places, and conversations in the hopes that even one person may choose to follow Jesus?

As you go about your day today, consider all the ways you could take part as a worker in the harvest. Ask God to show you areas of your daily life that you can place on the back burner for the sake of the gospel.

Prayer for Those Who Are Sent:
Lord of the Harvest, we come before you today to pray for workers to go to the harvest field of souls around the world who have never heard the name of Jesus. We ask that you send out many into places the gospel has never gone before. We ask that you call many of us to fervent prayer for the efforts of our global workers to reach the least-reached with the good news of Jesus, the Great Shepherd.
