Story

Dereck and Becca Jackson met on the missions field in Birmingham, AL. They now celebrate 22 years of marriage, 21 years of parenting, and 26 years as co-laborers. Dereck has spent the last 30 years serving in Birmingham, AL, Dolton, IL, and the south suburbs of Boston, MA. He has been a trainer with both SonLife and Cadre Ministries and participated in the DeVos Urban Leadership Initiative. Recently, he served on the Converge Northeast Board of Trustees, acting as the Converge Northeast representative to the general conference for two years. He leads our district’s Biblical Diversity Team. Dereck received his D.M. in discipleship from Liberty University in May of 2022. Becca has been an adjunct professor and tutor. In ministry, Becca has worked with youth groups, college ministries, women’s ministries, written Bible studies, and spoken at both youth and women’s events.

Throughout their ministry career, Dereck and Becca have always believed that ministry is relationships. To grow in one's relationship with Christ, one must also form trusting relationships with those around them. They also desire to equip others for the work of ministry. The combination of these two driving forces has caused them to establish Earthen Vessels Community Church. EVCC is not a traditional church. Rather it is a group of home churches in the suburbs south of Boston. As small groups meet weekly to grow in relationship with God and one another, they have also developed a desire to see one another grow.

At EVCC, we remember that “we have this treasure in earthen vessels that the excellency of its power may be of God and not of us” 2Cor 4:9. We are all simply jars of clay, and if we’re going to get real for a moment, we’re really just a group of cracked pots.
