Metro SenWest Initiative

VOCATIONAL TRAINING PROJECT

This project currently provides scholarships for young adults who desire to become preschool and primary school teachers. The scholarship pays for a one-year teacher training program that certifies participants to teach in public and private pre-K through 6 grade schools.

We train these new teachers in Disciple Making principles and practices so they can lead Discovery Bible Studies (DBS) with people in the communities where they teach.

Full scholarships for the program are $1,500 each, but contributions of any amount help us send certified Christian teachers to schools throughout Senegal. Our goal is to equip ten newly certified Christian teachers each year.

The people & the place

Young adults in Senegal often struggle to afford the schooling or technical training required to qualify for better paying jobs. Christian teachers, particularly, are in a position to be role models and have a positive influence on Muslim students and their parents.
