Converge church imitates Acts 13 by sending devoted servants into Christ’s global work

Ben Greene

A global worker is leading people to Christ and changing lives one relationship at a time.

This is the third story in a four-part series about Converge’s ministry to mothers in Albania. Part 1 // Part 2

Nita and Ted Bukowski moved to Albania to stimulate a gospel movement in the Muslim-majority nation. Their church in the United States followed the example of Antioch’s believers in Acts 13, who sent Paul and Barnabas out into ministry.

Since arriving, Nita’s been building transformational relationships with women in the least-reached nation. That’s why Shpresa* (name changed for security reasons) gained a more abundant life in Christ as Nita lovingly invests in her and other moms with children.

“It has changed my life totally,” she said of Nita’s ministry. “She’s anointed from God.”

Converge emphasizes gospel movements among least-reached people because 70,000 people die every day without hearing a credible presentation of the gospel. That’s a great injustice, yet the roughly 2000 gospel movements worldwide can overcome this spiritual darkness.

Nita and Shpresa met four years ago during a difficult season when Shpresa frequently wept. Raising three children and caring for a paralyzed relative left her scared and struggling.

As their friendship grew, Nita mentored her, helping Shpresa find her identity in Christ and overcome fears and core lies.

“I feel as a daughter to her,” Shpresa added.

Shpresa’s been a Christian for a few decades. She continues growing through Nita and can make other disciples. That gives Albania a chance to become a place where more people know and follow Jesus, all because a Converge church mobilized two of their faithful servants into global work.

“We are growing because Nita challenges us,” Shpresa said.
